Old Comrades 11-0 Cobham Sunday

Old Comrades last game of the year and it ends with us at the top of the league after the win against Cobham on Sunday.
It was an easy win for Old Comrades at half time we were 6-0 up. Man of the match was Sam Cuthbert who had an outstanding game, he didn't score but caused the defence a lot of trouble. Connor Bramble led the goal feast with 3 goals, Tony Swann with 2 and 1 each for Matthew Kirwan, Matthew Fincham,Courtney Rayfield, Danny Thorne, Karlton Blake and our goalkeeper Lee Barrass scored from the penalty spot.
Old Comrades next game is on the 8th January against Swanscombe Tigers.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND BEST WISHES FOR THE NEW YEAR.
From all at Old Comrades FC.

Old Comrades 20-0 Rose and Crown

Yes, Old Comrades won  20-0 last Sunday, to be fair Rose and Crown are having a difficult season with a change of management and players.
By half time Old Comrades were 4-0 up and Rose and Crown were 2 men down, 1 injury and a sending off. The second half was a bit unreal with 16 goals being scored, Old Comrades played some lovely football, the movements on and off the ball was a delight to watch. Matthew Fincham led the way with 5 goals, he should have got 3 or 4 more but his final touch let him down, he was voted man of the match. Steve Hucks scored a hat trick, Sam Cuthbert, Matthew Kirwan (first game back from a knee injury) and Courtney Rayfield got 2 each. Adam Cuthbert, Robert Ridley, Aaron Henry and Connor Bramble all scored 1 the other 2 goals were own goals.
It was a great win for the team and it took us to the top of the table and we hope to stay there for the Christmas period.
Old Comrades play Cobham Sunday tomorrow and we hope to continue with our winning way 7  straight wins so far.
Our Goal keeper Lee Barrass ask me to mention that he has 3 clean sheets in a row, lets hope he can make it 4.
Just a quick catch up of the other results.
Old Comrades beat Sun FC, it was one of the team's greatest performance.  Everyone played their part and we celebrated as if we had won the league. Sun fought hard even though they were down to 10 men after their goal keeper was sent off but Old Comrades deserved their win. The goal scorers were Adam Cuthbert, Courtney Rayfield and Connor Bramble. Josh Taylor was man of the match.
Following the win against Sun the team was on a high going into the game against Ampofo Athletics in the Messenger cup , Ampofo are in division 1 and are in the bottom end of the table but they gave a good account of their selves. I wasn't at the game but I was told it was woeful performance by Old Comrades by half time Old Comrades were 3-0 down and with 15 minutes before the final whistle the score was 4-2 to Ampofo but Old Comrades somehow won 5-4. The team had to dig deep for the win and the manager was happy that they were able to turn things around. Goal scorers Nathan Taylor 3,  who was also man of the match,  1 each for Karlton Blake and Sam Cuthbert.
Old Comrades play Gravesend Spartans in the next round.
In the Reporters cup Old Comrades played Hollisters from division 1 and and won 3-0. The team started slowly and it was 0-0 at half time, they managed to up the tempo in the 2nd half with  Danny Thorne scoring twice and Connor Bramble got the other goal. Man of the match Adam Cutbert.
We play  Battle of Britain in the next round.

Battle of Britain 2-4 Old Comrades

Old comrades are back to there winning ways with a 4-0 win against Battle last week. It looked like an easy game on paper but following the teams below par performances over their past few games you never know.
Battle of Britain started the game strongly and took a well deserve lead, Old Comrades did not seem able to get into the game and were luck to end the 1st half only 1-0 down. Old Comrades started the 2nd half slightly better and their game improved as the half went on. The equaliser was scored by Matthew Fincham who had a great game and was voted the man of the match. Following Matthews goal the team settled and seem to be enjoying themselves and the goals flowed with Nathan Taylor getting his 9th goal of the season, Adam Cuthbert also got on the score sheet and the 4th was a cracking goal from Robert Ridley.
Our next game is against Sun FC who remain unbeaten so far this season, we need to win this game to keep in the running for the league title.

Just a quick update of the past few games.
Old Comrades are out of the Kent cup following a 1-0 lost to Lounge FC. It was another so-so performance. the manager wasn't to concerned about the lost saying that the team will be able to concentrate on the league.
The lost in the Kent cup was followed by a 7-1 thrashing from Gravesend Spartans. It was the worse result in the clubs history. It was embarrassing to watch, not only did the team play badly some players decided they would play out of position much to the anger of the manager and the amazement of  everyone watching. Our only goal was scored by Jason Loft.
The team picked themselves up to beat Real Gima 5-0, it was a great team performance but anything would have been better than the previous week. Our goal keeper Lee Barrass made 3 great saves in the first half it could have been a completely different result if not for him. Lee was in the running for man of the match but it went to Nathan Taylor who scored 4 goals with Tony Swann getting the 5th.

Swanscombe Tigers 0-2 Old Comrades

100_1452

Old Comrades are the league leaders following the 2-0 win against Swanscombe Tigers on Sunday. Both teams started slowly with most of the game being played in the centre, Old Comrades began to to take control of the game and it was only the Swanscombe Tigers keeper that kept the score down. The first goal was scored by Matthew Fincham who drove a low shot into the left corner, the half ended 1-0. The second half saw Old Comrades take control of the game, the Swanscombe keeper made some brilliant saves and poor finishing kept the score down. The second goal was scored by Steve Hucks, he headed the ball into the goal from a corner. Not a perfect performance from the team but it was better than last week.
Adam Cuthbert was voted man of the match.
The team play lounge FC in the second round of the Kent cup this Sunday.

A&Z Sports 2-1 Old Comrades

Prior to the game on Sunday the league table read Old Comrades P4 W3 D1 L0 F10 A4.
After the win the against Gravesend Spartans, Old Comrades good start to the season continued with a 3-0 win against Real Gima, goal scorers Danny Thorne, Joe Hamshare and Nathan Taylor. Man of the match was Steve Hucks who had a great game.
Old Comrades next game was against Sun FC, this was the team greatest test as it has been a while since Old Comrades won or even got a point against the Sun. Old Comrades took an early lead and went in at half time 1-0 up, goal scorer Adam Cuthbert.  Sun started the second half strongly and within 15 minutes had scored the equaliser. Both sides had opportunities to win the game but it ended 1-1, it was another good performance by the team especially the defenders Steve Hucks was again voted man of the match but it was close call with Josh Taylor, the goal keeper Lee Barrass and Adam Cuthbert in the running.
Next came newly promoted Battle of Britain, on paper this looked like an easy win but the Old Comrades team made hard work of the 3-0 win. The goals were scored by Tony Swann and Nathan Taylor netted 2. Man of the match was Tony Swann. The team didn't seem able to up their game and there was signs of last seasons team making a very unwanted appearance.
So now we come to this week's game, a poor performance by all involved has brought an end our unbeaten run. The only goal came from a penalty in the first half after A&Z Sports took lead, Nathan Taylor once again getting on the score sheet.Their second goal was also a penalty after a hand ball in the penalty area 10 mintues before the final whistle. Old Comrades didn't look if they would score and the warning signs from last week performance were  there in full for all to see. A lot of habits that we though the players had cast aside all came rushing back much to the manager's disappointment.
Could it be the players lack self belief and are not use to the dizzy heights at the top of the table?
The next match is against Swanscombe Tigers, lets hope the team can get back to winning way as the following week is the second round of the Kent cup.
Come on Old Comrades.

first game of the season

100_1451

The 2011/2012 season kicked off last Sunday and Old Comrades opponents were last seasons league champions Gravesend Spartans. The team went into the game full of confidence and it showed in their performance. After only 10 minutes Old Comrades were leading 1-0 with a header from Josh Taylor. At half team Old Comrades were 3-1 up goal scorers were Connor Bramble and Adam Cuthbert.  Gravesend Spartans started the second half strongly but Old Comrades stood firm and remained in control of the game despite Gravesend Spartan scoring a second goal. In truth the Old Comrades could have scored 5 or 6 goals if all the chances had been taken.
The squad has been strengthen with new players and it was a welcome return to Joe Hamshare who played in goal as our new keeper was unable to make the first game.
The team looks good and everyone played their part, it should be a good season.
Josh was voted man of the match, it was well deserved.
Our next game is against Real Gima.
